McKINNEY, Texas – A 2021 championship rematch of the 2018 title game didn’t provide for much drama as the game went on. The only question was going to be the final score at the end of the cold night.

Ferris State avenged a loss in the championship game and won its first national championship, 58-17, over Valdosta State.

The Bulldogs (14-0) trailed 17-13 late in the first quarter, but went on a 45-0 run during the next 30 minutes of game time and dominated the contest. The strong defensive performance was capped by Liam Daly’s pick six late in the third quarter, which proved to be the final score of the game.

Daly also led all players with 13 tackles.

Jared Barnhardt picked up 148 yards on 14 carries and had three touchdowns runs.

Mylik Mitchell was 3-for-6 passing for 122 and a TD pass.
